You can have no greater sign of confirmed pride than when you think you are humble enough.

—William Law, A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life (via shinyoung)

Mmm.

Stubbornness and self-will will always stab Jesus Christ. Every time we stand on our own rights and insist that this is what we intend to do, we are persecuting Him. And when we finally understand that it is Jesus we have been persecuting all this time, it is the most crushing revelation ever.

All I do should be based on a perfect oneness with Him, not on a self-willed determination to be godly. This will mean that others may use me, go around me, or completely ignore me, but if I will submit to it for His sake, I will prevent Jesus Christ from being persecuted.

There’s only One church in Boston.

The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the LORD lift up his countenance[c] upon you and give you peace.
“So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”

Numbers 6:24-27.

Shine through Me.

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bowin heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Sigh.

1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”

A new year.

More Trials.

More Tribulations.

But more Grace to get through it all.

Don’t you know?

Angels and Demons are fighting for Your Soul.

12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Home.

Until I die I’ll sing these songs,
On the shores of Babylon,
Still looking for a home,
In a world where I belong.

And when I reach the other side,
I want to look you in the eye,
And know that I’ve arrived,
In a world where I belong.

 14For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

-Hebrews 11:14-16

The season of Advent.

 The people who walked in darkness
   have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
   on them has light shined.

6 For to us a child is born,
   to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
   and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

Rejoice, Rejoice. Emmanuel is here.
